Wheat Aikang58 Genome Project

WheatDB is an integrated sequence and annotation information database of common wheat Aikang58 (AK58), a modern leading wheat variety in China. We constructed a high quality reference genome of AK58, established its comprehensive genomic and epigenomic information libraries. The database includes mainly genome assemblies, predicted gene models, gene annotations, mutant libraries, transcriptional landscape, epigenomic landscape, 3D genome architecture, comparative genomic information and #. These useful information can be browsed in JBrowse or seached and further download from our website.

The effort of this Wheatdb project was undertaken in order to allow researchers to easily use the genome and annotation information from modern bread wheat and also wheat ancestors to study the functional genome of bread wheat for genetic improvement. All the AK58 information can be easily accessed and compared with that of landrace Chinese Spring generated by IWGSC. And you can also access to the data from Aegilops tauschii, Aegilops speltoides and Triticum turgidum ssp. dicoccum generated by us.

The project

We have provided a resource to extend the annotation of the wheat genome to other plant species by providing comparative alignments to other plant species. We have provided training in bioinformatics to over plant scientists, sharing our informatic expertise with a broader range of scientists. We have developed agricultural genomics lecture and teaching modules for educating high school students and teachers on the significance of agricultural genomics.
